Alumni talk, organized on 9th March 2024

In the view of fostering connections, providing guidance, inspiring individuals, and strengthening the bond between an institution and its alumni community an alumni talk was organized on 9th March 2024 for pre final year students.

Mr. Pranav G S (Batch: 2017-21), Senior Engineer (domain: RDKB Router), Tata Elxsi delivered a talk on RDKB. He shared insights into routing protocols, dynamically keyed encryption methods, and the concept of blocking unauthorized access.

Ms. Bindushree S (Batch: 2017-21), Software Engg. Analyst, (domain: DevOps), Accenture discussed the principles and practices of DevOps, emphasizing its role in enhancing collaboration between development and operations teams

Industrial Visit to “ITI LIMITED”, Bangalore for the students of 5th SEM on 8th Feb 2024.

The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the functioning of a leading telecommunications and information technology company. Students Visited Different Departments of ITI Limited SMT Line, PCB Manufacturing, Telecom Testing Lab, HDPE Pipe Manufacturing, Injection Moulding, 4G, 3D Printing

Three days workshop on “Machine Learning and Neural Networks” from 17th to 19th January 2024

The Department of Information Science & Engineering at CIT, Gubbi, demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence by successfully hosting a three-day workshop on Machine Learning, held on January 17th and 19th, 2024. The workshop elicited an outstanding response, with over 40 students actively participating from diverse departments, such as CSE, ISE, and AIDS. Recognizing and celebrating the students’ achievements, the department presented appreciation certificates to those who demonstrated the best performance and excelled in the workshop’s quiz

Heritage Trip to Mysore, Karnataka for 3rd semester students on 18th January 2024

On January 18, 2024, a memorable heritage trip was organized for 3rd semester students as part of the Social Connect Program. The journey commenced with a visit to the Chamundi Temple in Mysore, offering participants a spiritual and cultural experience. Subsequently, the enchanting Mysore Palace captivated everyone with its grandeur, providing insights into the rich history of the region. The expedition concluded with a visit to the Venugopala Swamy Temple, enhancing the social connect program by fostering a sense of community through shared exploration and cultural appreciation.

Workshop on “AI Chatbot Creation” on 10th January 2024 for the students of CSE stream

Infy Challengers Club of ISE dept associated with AD department and organized a workshop for the students of Third Year CSE stream on the topic “AI Chatbot Creation using Dialogflow”.

STARTATHON – Collaborative Learning & Skill Development Program” in association with Infy Challengers Club from 22nd  July to 2nd Sept, 2023.

Startathon was a value-added Collaborative Learning and Skill Development program, organized by department of Information Science and Engineering in association with AIDS dept and supported by IIHCUS Technology LLP. The program mainly concentrated on Python, web development and Python web framework (Django). The students of CSE stream departments participated actively in all the sessions. The top performers were awarded with appreciation certificates and goodies sponsored by IIHCUS Technology LLP.

In Day –1: Peer to Peer sessions on python concepts and in that week all the students completed 30 hours lecture in free code camp.

In Day 2: Peer to Peer sessions on advanced python concepts, 50+ students successfully completed scientific computing with python certificate from free code camp.

In Day 3: Web page design and web application, on this day students designed their own profile using HTML and CSS.

In Day 4: Hands on session on Python web framework Django by Mr. Anil Kumar and Mrs. Tejaswini S.

In, Day 5: Assessment. Performance of the participants was assessed by giving quiz on Python Program, web design and Python/HTML/CSS/Django.

Alumni Connect, a regularly organized event by CIT-ISE an invites prominent Alumni of CIT to share the stage briefing on their area of specialization, expertise, and opportunities for internships, and placement openings for students who avails them. Alumni Talk invited Mr. Dayanidhi R S (BE: 2016-20) System Engineer at TCS . They addressed BE 2nd and 4th (ISE, AI&DS, CSE, EC, EEE, CV, ME) semester students on topics related to Resume Building for placement activities. Session mainly concentrated on the below points.

  • Motivated students to prepare resume on their skill set
  • Motivated students to participate in technical events (Hackathon, Workshops, Etc.)

Invited Talk  on “The Role of Engineers in Nation Building”- 20th feb 2023

Department of Information Science and Engineering organized Invited Talk for students on ” The Role of EngineerS In Nation Building ” on 20 Feb, 2023. The Resource Person was Mr. Gagan Abbinahole, Founder, Nirbhaya Youths Federation, Karnataka.

Session mainly concentrated on the below points:

1. Engineers play a very important role in every walk of life. They are technically skilled professionals, who are responsible for solving problems through the use of machines  devices, systems, materials and processes.
2. They convert knowledge of basic sciences into products. Their main focus is on making things work efficiently and effectively by applying the theories and principles of sciences and mathematics to research, and develop economic solutions to technical problems.
3. With such a vast and varied nature of their job, the engineers are really the foundation stone of a nation’s building and their role cannot be neglected in a nation’s all round progress. The engineers on their part should be proud of what they do and contribute effectively towards the growth of their country and the world at large.

Total 116 students and 7 teachers attended the invited talk.

Hands-on Session “Peer to Peer session on Git, Git Hub and Azure” on 5th Jan 2023

Department of Information science and engineering organized a inter department program “a Peer to Peer Session on Git, Git Hub and Azure” on 5th Jan 2023. This technical hands-on session is a student-initiated program to share knowledge about Git, Git Hub and Azure basic concepts to the student community. This program is successfully handled by Mr. Poorvik Jain T M(5th Sem Student) & Ms. Soundraya H R(5th Sem Students) at 10AM with the welcome note. Later the session lifted by Mr. Poorvik Jain and given lecture on Git and Git Hub with an Hands-on session. In the after noon session the session carried by Ms. Soundarya H R on Azure and Power application. Around 100+ students are participated in this session and got benefited.

Workshop on “Database Application Development using PHP” on 27th, 28th& 29thDec 2022.

A workshop on Database Application Development using PHP was conducted by Mr. Anil Kumar on 27th, 28th&29thDec 2022. A total of 163 students i.e., 114 students from CSE and 49 Students from ISE participated in the workshop. The session was conducted at the ICL lab. The Workshop was opened by the Associate Professor and Coordinator of the CSE department Mr. Anil Kumar G, who given the keynote address to the participants and remarked the importance of webpage and website. In workshop essential elements of HTML and PHP were discussed and the importance of design and developing project was also highlighted. Students’ participation was wholehearted.

Alumni Talk on : Current Trends on 19th Nov 2022

Alumni Talk, a regularly organized event by CIT-ISE an invites prominent Alumni of CIT to share the stage briefing on their area of specialization, expertise, and opportunities for internships, and placement openings for students who avails them. Alumni Talk invited Mr. Dayanidhi R S (BE: 2016-20) System Engineer at TCS and Ms. Harshitha H N (BE: 2018-22) Associate Engineer.Both addressed BE 3rd and 5th(ISE, AI&DS and CSE) semester students on topics related to Current trends in IT industries. Session mainly concentrated on the below points.

  • Motivating students to make them busy in technical stuff in their vacations and free time so that while applying for job it will be added skill for them.
  • Conveying them the message that once if they become financially stable they can continue /invest their time on their other passion also.

The students of 3rd and 5th (ISE, AI & DS and CSE)were present in the alumni talk and around 40 students were participated and benefited from this webinar. The overall session was interesting and interactive as well.

Event on Time Management – on 27-07-2022

An event on “Time Management in Engineering” was conducted by Mr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ISE on Thursday 21st July 2022. A total of 89 students i.e., 59 students from ISE and 30 Students from AI & DS participated in the workshop. The session resource person was Mr. Suhas T N, he is founder and CEO of Suhas Dance Academy, S Company Production India and Innovative social project initiate to inspire. The event was opened by the Professor & head of the ISE department Dr. Gavisidappa, who welcomed the resource person and remarked the importance of time management in engineering. In this event the resource person created awareness among the students about time management. The session ended with vote of thanks form Dr. Thara D K, Coordinator, Dept. of ISE. ,  and ISE  faculties were present.

FlAIR-2023, the annual techno-cultural fest held at CIT campus on 24th and 25th March 2023, commenced with the vibrant celebration of Ethnic Day, followed by a plethora of exciting Technical and Cultural events. The Department of Information Science and Engineering in association with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of CIT has organized a workshop on the theme “Design thinking, Critical thinking and Innovation design”. The resource person was Prof. Prakesh Unkal, Dean (Business Design and Innovation), Welingkar Institute of Management, Bangalore. Prof. Prakash Unakal shared his areas of expertise with the participants on Design, Design Thinking, Innovation, New Product Design and Development, New Opportunity Identification, Creativity, Strategic Design, Consumer Behaviour and Emotion, Business Design, Design Management, Start-up Ecosystem, Product Design, Development and Management. More than 100 students and faculty members were benefited by this program.

Mr. Pradeep M, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering was the trainer.The webinar was focused on the creation of forms using netbeans.

Workshop on “Practical Machine Learning” – 31st Jan and 1st Feb 2020

 

The Department of ISE in association with CSE organized workshop on “Practical Machine Learning” on 31st January and 1st February, 2020 for the students and faculty members from various streams.

 

The resource persons for the workshop included, Dr. Sridhar K N Rao , Chief Advisor (Academics & Research) and Dr. Dinesh R, Principal Engineer, Samsung, Bengaluru. The workshop was held in CAD Lab, CRC block.

The faculties and students of various streams participated in the workshop. The sessions were interesting and interactive. The workshop covered classification technique algorithms, Linear regression, Logistic regression and Gradient Descent, the use of linear algebra to plot the graph for large data analysis, the usage of data to manage decisions instead of relying on experience and intuition, building neural network model etc.

The Department of Information Science and Engineering has organized a Workshop on Database Application Development using PHP from 12th to 14th November 2019 for the V semester ISE and CSE students. Mr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering was the trainer. The main objective of the Workshop is to comprehensively cover the basics of Database concepts and Technology, Relational Data Model, SQL programming and Application development for real world problems with front- end tools like PHP. During the workshop, essential elements of HTML and PHP were discussed and the importance of design and developing project was also highlighted. The workshop also emphasized a hands-on approach for better understanding of Data Modelling and SQL programming with complete Database application development using back-end and front-end tools.

The Department of Information Science and Engineering has organized the Webinar on “Mendeley software” on 1st October 2019 for the benefits of faculty members of all the Departments. Mrs. Garima Turan, Account Manager – Inside Sales at Elsevier was the resource person. The webinar was focused on the following: Automatically generate  bibliographies;   Collaborate    easily    with other researchers online; Easily import papers from other research software; Find relevant papers based on what you are reading; Access research papers from anywhere online; Read papers on the go, with the iOS and Android applications.

The Department of Information Science and Engineering has organized the Webinar on “Cyber range for Cyber Security Posture Assessment” on March 29, 2019 for the benefits of faculty members of CSE and ISE Departments. The webinar was focused on the cyber security platform designed by the TCG Digital Solution in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur. The learning outcome of the program includes, fundamentals and applications of the cyber security; analyzing, predicting and preparing for emerging cyber security challenges; and testing the new ideas using the cyber security platform.
