C I T- Women Empowerment Cell (WEC)

Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) has been constituted in Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology to empower and safeguard the rights of female members; faculty, staff and students of the Institution. The WEC works to promote gender sensitivity in the campus and conduct diverse programmes to educate, sensitize both male and female members and produce harmonious atmosphere on the campus
It works for the welfare of the students and faculty towards preparing them in to competent professionals to take up greater challenges in the academic sphere.

Women Empowerment Cell Established in our college to empower girl students to enhance the understanding of the issues related to women, to prevent sexual harassment, other sensitive problems faced by girl students. The college takes every care to monitor and curb insulting and worrying act towards girls.


It organizes workshops and sensitization programmes both for staff and students by eminent Psychologists, Gynecologists and Social workers.It provides a platform to share their experiences and voices regarding their status in society and suggest ways to improve and empower themselves.The college takes all necessary measures to ensure the safety and the dignity of the female students, teachers and staff.

Objectives 

 

1. To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender.

2. To conduct seminars , workshops  and awareness programs –to impart knowledge of opportunities and rights

3. To create a conductive counseling environment for the female gender to share their problems

4. To upload women’s right to protection against sexual harassment

5. To help them to understand their strengths and potential

6. To train and empower the girl students To help them femaleidentify inherent talents and develop the skills

International Women’s Day Celebration – 2020

International Women’s day is celebrated every year on March 8th across the world in order to focus the achievements and contributions of the women in the society. Generally, it is celebrated to honour and respect to whole women fraternity.

CIT-Women Empowerment Cell organized an” International Women’s Day-2020” on 9th March.2020 @CIT Campus. The inaugural function commenced with invocation by Ms.Spoorthy S,VII Semester ,ECE.

All the dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp,

Dr.Shantala C P ,Chairperson ,WEC-CIT ,motivated the students by an inspirational speech and conveyed her gratitude towards the Director for his trust on few lady faculties for assigning a responsible work in CIT. She appreciated Veenakumari H M Coordinator, Women Empowerment Cell for organizing this wonderful event.

Dr.Bhavana Prasad, Consultant Neuro Psychiatris ,Tumkur was invited as a chief guest for the program. Dr Bhavana presented an excellent speech on “Gender Sensitization “issues along with her patient’s example. She guided the girl students to how to balance both personal and professional life and informed the girl students to continue in the profession to fulfil their dreams but not to  stop after marriage.

Dr.Suresh D S ,Director and Principal ,in his presidential speech appreciated the lady faculties of our college for their contribution and also girl students for their excellent academic and overall performance. Also he appreciated the women fraternity for their balancing mind in both personnel and professional consequences.

Mrs,Jyotho K S welcomed all the dignitaries and vote of thanks by Mrs.Ramya H N .

Further the Director and Chairperson felicitated CIT lady faculties and girl students for their contribution for the growth of CIT and academic excel.

Dr.  Shantala C P distributed prizes to the winners. CIT-WEC arranged high-tea for the participants. Overall the program was grand success and all the girl students and lady faculties felt very happy  and appreciated the

Self defence program

The Trainers Mr. Abhishek and team [ABVP] trained our students by demonstrating various moves to defend themselves during an attack.

Few tips and moves demonstrated during the event are listed below

    • Open hand strike
    • 360 or outside defense
    • Kick to the groin
    • Attack from the ground
    • Aims for the part of the body where she can do the most damage easily: the eyes, nose, ears, neck, groin, knee and legs.
    • To maximize damage use elbows ,knees and head

After couple of days of training @ CIT Campus, mega demonstration session was arranged in University Grounds in Tumkur. Large number of CIT female students took part in this mega event in Tumkur.

All the participants expressed their gratitude for organizing self-defense program.

Overall the event was highly successful.

International womens day-2018

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on 8th of March all across the world in different regions of the countries in order to focus the achievements and contributions of the women in the society. Generally, it is celebrated to provide respect to whole women fraternity, appreciate them and to express love for them. As women are the major parts of the society and plays a great role in the economic, political, and social activities.

International women’s day is commemorated to remember and appreciate women’s all over achievements. The theme for 2018 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY is “Press for Progress”. There’s a strong call to “Press for Progress” motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think and act.

International Women’s Day 2018 is an opportunity to transform this momentum into action, to empower women in all settings. Within the ambit of above theme Women Empowerment Cell, Channabasaveswara Institute of Technology, Gubbi hosted one day program titled “Fitness and Health – for Better Living” in the campus on March 8th, 2018. The Chief Guest for the inaugural function of this program was Dr Sarika Raga, Associate Professor, Department of Digital Electronics and Communication Systems, VTU-Bangalore Region , Muddenahalli and Guest of Honor was Mr.Prabhuraj ,Renowned Athlete and Professional Fitness Trainer, Bangalore The above function was presided by Dr.Suresh D S, Director & Principal, CIT, Dr. Shantala C P, Vice-Principal & Head-CSE, CIT and Dr Sridhar K N Rao, Chief Advisor – Academic and research, CIT. Teaching and Non Teaching staff of CIT along with female students across all streams and semesters took part in this program.

The inaugural function commenced with invocation by Ms.Spoorthi S, IV Sem ECE. Dr.Shantala C P who is spearheading CIT-WEC as Chairperson welcomed the guests and other gathering. All the dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Dr Sarika Raga in her Chief Guest address spoke in detail about the roles and responsibilities of women in a society. She stressed on women rights, contributions of women, importance of women education, career opportunities for women etc. The talk by Guest of Honor Mr.Prabhuraj was centred on fitness and health. Dr Sridhar K N Rao in his address highlighted how today’s most of the women maintain excellent work-life balance. He appreciated the working women because of their 3rd shift duty also. Dr Suresh D S in his presidential address spoke at length about gender sensitivity and gender inequality. He said for progressive society both men and women play important role and question of gender superiority does not arise. .

the following students who took part in an Essay Competition (Topic – WHAT I CAN DO FOR CLEAN INDIA”) organized by CIT-WEC were declared winners and prizes were given during the function.

Post inaugural function Fitness Trainer Mr.Prabhuraj demonstrated few exercises for female students and staff in the CIT Amphitheatre. The WEC – Chairperson Dr.Shantala C P distributed mementos to all female students and staff. CIT-WEC arranged lunch for the participants. Overall the program was a grand success and all participants appreciated the efforts of CIT-WEC for this initiative.

Women Hygienic campaign

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (Affiliated to VTU, Belgaum & Approved by AICTE, New Delhi) (NAAC Accredited &ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution) NH 206 (B.H. Road), Gubbi, Tumkur – 572 216. Karnataka. WOMEN HYGIENIC CAMPAIGN A REPORT The Women Empowerment Cell , CIT Gubbi Proudly organized a Session on “Women Hygienic Campaign”-A Sustainable Menstruation On 18th December 2017 at CIT campus. To address this issue, Green The Red, a group of eco-activists and healthcare professionals, has launched a ‘Cup and Cloth campaign’ supported by the Karnataka State Pollution Control board (KSPCB). The aim is to bring the government and the nation’s attention to sustainable menstrual choices. The campaign wants the government to evaluate sustainable alternatives to disposable pads and provide the same in their menstrual hygiene schemes. The session was conducted by Mrs. Chakrasthitha, Biomedical Engineer from “Green The Red”. She explained about the campaign that is bringing to the people an awareness of alternatives that are trash free, rash free and cash free. She also concentrated on modern-day sanitary napkins and tampons have chemicals in them that are harmful to women’s health. Added to this, burning sanitary waste or dumping them in landfills and water bodies have adverse effects on the environment. The session was organized for the teaching staff, Non- teaching Staff, Lady Sweepers and students of our Institution where around 95 of them attended it. It was a bold approach towards a topic which is still a taboo in both rural and urban India.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY -2017, 8th March 2017 @ CIT Campus, Gubbi-572216

International women’s day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, educational, cultural and political achievements of women. Celebrate the acts of courage, determination and achievements of women. Women are the real architect of the society.

It was our great pleasure to celebrate the International women’s day in our college campus by planting the saplings.

The Vice Principal and Chairman of Women Empowerment Cell Dr. Shantala C P addressed the gathering. The program started by planting the saplings by Shantala C P accompanied by Jyothi K S, CSE department. The staff and students of Electrical and Electronics department organized this program. The chairman of WEC congratulated the students for their good thought and initiation.

International Yoga Day

As per the directions from Registrar, VTU, Belagavi vide letter ref: VTU/BGM/AcaOS/UGC/2017-18/1890 dated 15 June 2017 CIT, Gubbi observed International Yoga Day on 21st June 2017 at CIT Campus. Around 53 teaching and non-teaching staff of CIT participated in this event. Yoga Instructors Sri.Srinivasa Murthy.A .R and Sri.Rangaswamy.D.H (in-house staff) demonstrated various ASANAs which were followed by all the other participants. Select Asanas performed during the event includes: Baddha Konasana, Dhanurasana, Ustrasana, Utkatasana, Veerbhadrasana, Bhujangasana including Pranayama. The Institute provided logistic support and refreshments to all the staff who participated in International Yoga Day. All the participants expressed their gratitude for organizing International Yoga Day. The event was highly successful.
