CIT Research Center

CIT research foundation has been setup in the campus and is affiliated to Kuvempu University and Tumkur University. Eminent faculties support the students to pursue research in the areas of Computer Science, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering.

Why Research @CIT

CIT, as a matter of policy, encourages research by faculty members and provides incentives for research resulting in publications and patents. CIT encourages the faculty to compete for external research funding. Experts from reputed research groups from all over the world are invited routinely to deliver guest lectures to provide broader exposure for the students and faculty.

Computer Science and Engineering

The department of Computer Science, CIT, Gubbi is permitted to offer PhD / MSc by research programs in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of VTU from the year 2014.

Electronics and Communication Engineering

The department of Electronics and Communication,CIT, Gubbi is permitted to offer PhD / MSc by research programs in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of VTU .

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The department of Electrical and Electronics, CIT, Gubbi is permitted to offer a Ph.D. / MSc by research programs in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of VTU from the year 2019.

Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical Engineering, CIT, Gubbi is permitted to offer a Ph.D. / MSc by research programs in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of VTU from the year 2015.

Mathematics

The department of Mathematics Ph.D. / MSc by research programs in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of VTU, Belagavi from the year 2017.

Chemistry

The department of Chemistry, CIT, Gubbi is permitted to offer a Ph.D. / MSc by research programs in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of VTU,Belagavi from the year 2018.

 

Major Grants Received

  • A Project entitled “Intelli-Track: A Smart Tracking System for lost objects using RFID Technology” guided by Prof. Shantala C.P, Vice Principal & HOD, CSE Department was selected under Technology Related Innovative Projects (TRIP) of Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), GoK for the year 2012-13 . VGST-TRIP grant of Rs. 40,000/- was released for the above project.

 

  • AICTE, New Delhi offered Rs.5,00,000/- as grant-in-aid to Dr. D S Suresh, Director, CIT for conducting a faculty development programme “Real World Digital Signal Processing” during the academic year 2013-14.

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred Prof. Shantala C.P, Vice Principal & HOD, CSE Department “Seed money to young scientists for research (SMYSR) “award for the financial year 2013-14. SMYSR grant of Rs. 6.00 lakhs was given to Prof. Shantala for her project titled “EEG based Brain Computer Interface for Assistive Technology”

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred “Centre for Innovative Science and Engineering Education – CISEE” award to Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, CIT, Gubbi for the financial year 2013-14. CIT is eligible to receive a total CISEE grant award of Rs. 30 Lakhs over three years period. Under CISEE award the program coordinator Dr. D S Suresh would implement a project titled “DSP Contextual Learning Lab”.

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred “Karnataka Fund for Infrastructure Strengthening in Science and Technology (K-FIST –Level II)” award to Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, CIT, Gubbi for the financial year 2013-14. K-FIST grant award is Rs. 40 Lakhs for period of two years. Under K-FIST EEE Department would implement a project titled “Modernization of Power System Simulation Lab & Relay and High Voltage Lab”

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred sanctioned the Grants under the scheme of “Centre for Innovative Science and Engineering Education – CISEE” to Computer Science and Engineering Department, CIT, Gubbi for the financial year 2014-15. The grant amount of Rs. 30 Lakhs over three years period. The Program coordinator Dr. Sridhar Rao , Professor, CSE would implement a project titled “Centre of Creativity in Engineering”.

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred “Karnataka Fund for Infrastructure Strengthening in Science and Technology (K-FIST –Level I)” award to Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, CIT, Gubbi for the financial year 2014-15. K-FIST grant award is Rs. 20 Lakhs for period of two years. The Program Coordinators are Dr. Suresh D S & Mr. R Sekar would implement a project titled “Modernization of Embedded System Design Lab and Industrial Automation Lab”

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred “Karnataka Fund for Infrastructure Strengthening in Science and Technology (K-FIST –Level I)” award to Computer Science and Engineering Department, CIT, Gubbi for the financial year 2016-17. K-FIST grant award is Rs. 20 Lakhs for period of two years. The Program Coordinator Dr. Shantala C P would implement a project titled “Development of Long Range High Speed Wireless LAN for the transmission of Telemedicine from Disaster Areas”

 

  • Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) conferred Mrs. Rashmi C R, Asst. Professor, CSE Department “Seed money to young scientists for research (SMYSR) “award for the financial year 2016-17.
