About Us

Department Profile

The Department of Physical and Health Education was established at Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Gubbi in the year 2001.

Our Sports Department intensely believes in the Principle of true education under the grand shade of good health and fitness, it functions in the purview of institutional goals and objectives.

The department is committed and has a dedicated team of committee members, staff and students. It has spacious ground for outdoor activities and well equipped infrastructure for indoor games. We take the “Owner’s pride” to possess all the facilities to develop various sports events.

A brief review of the milestones crossed reveals its zeal, perseverance in pursuit of realizing the essence of life.

Mr. Jagadeesha G, Physical education director of the department with a profound knowledge on physical education has more than 11 years of experience. He has represented South Zone/All India Inter University  foot ball tournament for four times and various other tournaments.

It is matter of pride for CIT that the cricket ground of CIT is recognized by KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) The college has given consent  & accordingly league tournament matches have been conducted at CIT campus regularly.

To offer diverse opportunities that compliment the education, by nurturing learning through competition, recreation and physical activity, while developing students to succeed in all facets of their lives .

Objectives

  • Provide opportunities to students to participate in competitive sports and games.
  • To sensitize students, staff and faculty about importance of a healthy lifestyle and teach lifelong habits.
  • Identifying and developing sporting talent through systematic interventions and offering desired facilities .
  • Through flagship intercollegiate sports and games competitions contribute to greater visibility of the institute
  • Develop on-campus sports and games facilities which could be used for playing Zonal, District & State level matches.

Fitness Training – Gym

 The gym is well equipped with a multi-gym, a range of free weights and aerobic equipment. The gym is great for building strength, burning fat, improving general fitness, or for specific sports conditioning. The gym is open to all members of CIT. The college gym is maintained by the department of physical education. The faculties, hostel and college students are utilizing facilities from 4PM to 8PM.
