Department of Mathematics

Overview

The department of Mathematcs came into existence with the establishment of the Institution in 2001 to cater the Mathematical needs of the engineering community. Presently there are 7 faculty members in the department of which two are professors and rest are working in the capacity of assistant professors. The faculty members of the department are specialized in the areas like Cryptography, Linear Algebra,Algebraic Geometry, Statistics, Topology, Numeriacl Methods . The faculty members of the department are involved in innovative teaching and training Mathematics at all levels from school to University. The department is involved in bringing the problem solving culture to the scientific community around. Further the department is mentoring the persons who are inclined towards Mathematical research .

Several faculty of the department are much in demand for giving lectures on various aspects of mathematics across the state. They are members of various professional bodies like ISTE and Ramanujan Mathematical Society.

Vision

  • Inspiring students to lean how to think logically and mathematically and understand the construction of Mathematical arguments and also to find optimal ways to solve Engineering problems and the problems in our daily life.
  • To convince students of the board Mathematical frame work under which many Engineering problems may be tackled to let them see the beauty, Joy relevance of doing mathematics.

Mission

  • To create an environment in which the students become competent users of mathematics.
  • To train students so that they can experience the Mathematics underlying the various real life situations they go through in their professional lives.

Future Plans

To set up a laboratory for Numerical and Symbolic Computations for the benefit of students and faculty.

  • Bridge Course:

There is a gap between Preuniversity  level Mathematics and Engineering Mathematics.  To fill this gap we have been conducting a Bridge Course for first semester engineering students since two years. In this Bridge Course, we taught about elementary concepts like Differential Calculus, Integral

Calculus, Trigonometry, Logarithms etc. This effort has been widely appreciated by engineering students community and also by their parents.

Ph.D. Research Centre

The research center was started in 2017. The learning of Mathematics is not merely memorizing the problem-solving procedure, it has to develop Mathematical reasoning. In fact, mathematical education is nothing but mathematical engineering. By keeping this in mind the dept. of Mathematics started the research center in 2017  with the following objectives.
