As an outcome of the National Workshop for the TPOs (Training & Placement Officers), the All India association for the TPO's(IAPT)has been registered & started with headquarters at CIT campus.
An association of Engineering colleges for promoting jointly all the activities related to Placements & Training has also been registered & started with HQRS at CIT campus.This association has been named as ACCESS.
CIT has been maintaining strong and consistent interaction with many Industries, especially IT related. CIT cordially welcome the industries to come forward and build a strong bond with CIT to garner mutual benefits and contribute towards building of a strong technological Institution. CIT has a pool of expertise in various fields of technical education. It will be in the interest of both CIT and the industry to interact, and bridge the gap between technical institutions and industries. In this respect CIT has taken a very big leap, by organizing perhaps a first ever, National Level Industry Interface Workshop, for bridging the gap between the Industry & Academics, by inviting concerned Experts from both sides. As outcome of that an All India Association named IAPT exclusively for the Training & Placement Officers was started with HQRS at CIT Campus.
Formation of CIT-STEP is a firm step towards building up of strong and lasting relations of CIT with the Society and community as a whole. This acts as an interface between institutions of learning, research and industry. Through this basic infrastructure is provided for trying innovative ideas/experiments with new or advanced technology. CIT-STEP aims at tapping the abundant knowledge power available in all the areas located in the near vicinity of the Campus.
The initiatives for building the relations with all the Technical Institutions located in the surrounding areas of CIT campus were started about one year back. These were started through the issues connected with the Placement of our students. Now the possibilities of extending the same to other areas like, visiting faculty lectures, exchange of methodology, R & D activities, etc. are being explored. The meeting to that effect was conducted at CIT campus of the Heads of Technical Institutes during ending December 2005. As outcome of that an Association of Engineering Colleges named ACCESS was started for promoting mainly joint activities related to Placements & Trainings, besides many more related activities.
A step has already been initiated to start a linkage of CIT with IISc, Bangalore. It is planned to invite Senior Faculty Members from IISc for Guest lectures sometime during the next semester. The Faculty members have already been fixed and their consent obtained. Some of the Senior Faculty members from NIT, Suratkal have also been contacted, and they have agreed in principle; however schedule is yet to be fixed. For tying up such an arrangement with the nearest IIT located at Chennai, it will take some more time.
Within the next two years time, CIT is planning to have collaboration with Universities and Institutions located abroad. These collaborations shall be for specific courses, advanced levels, research oriented etc. The modalities of same shall be started to be worked out, sometime in the next academic session.
Research and development activities form an integral component of CIT, towards achieving excellence in imparting high quality technical education. Since the inception of the Institute, faculty and students have strived hard to promote the research culture. Innumerable R&D and consultancy projects have been successfully completed by faculty members. Some of our Faculty Members are actively involved with some of the leading IT Industries, regarding many projects, from time to time.
