Master of Business Administration (MBA)


OVERVIEW
The Department of Master of Business Administration (MBA) was established in the year 2010 with an annual intake of 60 students. The MBA program is a two year full time course spread over four semesters. The program is duly approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Visvevaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The course offers specializations in Marketing, Finance & Human Resource.  

The MBA program aims at providing inputs to the students relevant to the business, industry and trade so that they can efficiently & effectively function in different organization and face the challenges arising as a sequel to all round development of the country.

Top priority is accorded here towards the creation of management graduates with strong fundamentals and firm basics of management. The curriculum that is followed has a balanced blend of practical and theory. Along with the prescribed syllabus, industrial visits, seminars, guest lectures, case studies and mini-projects are undertaken on a regular basis. Besides CIT faculty, a team of highly specialized resource persons are associated with the program.


ACTIVITIES
  • The department has been organizing intercollegiate competitions/management fests every year.
  • The department has been conducting FDPs for teaching & non-teaching staff of the institute.
  • Frequently department conducts inbound and outbound activities for students.
  • The department conducts computer based mock tests for the MBA aspirants every year.
  • CIT MBA students have participated in many inter-collegiate management fests and have won several prizes.
  • The department organizes awareness camps in schools every year.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • CIT MBA students’ team took part in “Krishn-2011” – a National Level Competition on Managerial Competence organized by The BRICK, PGDMS & RC, SIT, Tumkur on 26th & 27th March 2011 and won first prize in Best Manager, Story Writing and Finance events.
  • CIT MBA students’ team took part in “Ashwamedha” – a state level Inter-Collegiate Management Fest by PGDMS & RC, SIT, Tumkur on 22nd April 2011 and Ms. Priyanka M G of II Semester won First Prize in HR Event.

Achievements

  • Ms.Harshitha S, Faculty member in MBA Department was awarded Gold Medal from PGDMS & RC, SIT, Tumkur for her outstanding academic performance during her MBA studies at SIT.
  • The Department of MBA organized an interactive session “Fostering Synergy between BBM and MBA Programs” during Jan 2012. Principals of colleges offering BBM program in Tumkur District were invited for this interactive session. Sri.B.G Srinivasa Rao, President, Tumkur Management Association (TuMa) and Dr.K.Kasinath Shastry, Secretary, Tumkur Management Association were the guests for this event.
  • A one day Faculty Development Program on “Business Management & Commerce Education - Desired Faculty Interventions” was organized during March 2012.
