Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology runs under the auspices of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Rural Education Society(CRED Society).The society was established in 2000 under the Chairmanship of Sri G.S.Basavaraj, the honourable Member of Parliament from Tumkur with a mission to create centres for excellence in education and other related fields and there by serving the society to enhance the quality of life through excellence and leadership in professionally relevant education. Though C.I.T. was the first institute to be set up by the society, it was just the beginning. The society gradually expanded with other Educational Institutions like Nightingale Institute of Nursing (B.Sc. and GNM), Bangalore, Channabasaveshwara College of Education (B.Ed.), Channabasaveshwara Teacher's Training Institute (TCH), CITRIS, CIT-VTP Centre, CIT Institute of Mnagaement Studies, CIT Research Foundation & E-CIT Solutions Pvt.
